METMO was one of the first Czech companies to successfully implement Dynamics 365 for Operations

Start-up METMO launched its operations in February 2018. With no existing information system in place, it had to quickly choose a unified data platform to support its business processes in manufacturing — the choice fell on Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations delivered as cloud SaaS.

Situation

Metmo began its active operations in February 2018. Because it had no information system in place, it was forced to make rapid decisions to secure a unified data platform supporting its business processes. Its core business is manufacturing, so as part of a tender it approached several vendors providing information systems for production management on various platforms.

Implementation

One of the ERP systems included in the tender was Microsoft's product known as Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise Edition (formerly MS Dynamics AX). This product was ultimately chosen as the winner.

The system had to go live within 2 months. The original idea of owning the infrastructure and running the system on-premise proved expensive for a start-up. For that reason, an on-line solution — software as a service (SaaS) — was chosen instead.

The go-live project started in mid-April. Using the LCS environment tools for project management enabled rapid progress. A test environment was ready overnight and users were able to start training in the new system very quickly.

The chosen ERP system covers the core needs of internal processes, including faster work in production and warehousing. The application supports integration of RF devices. Barcode handling to the maximum possible extent was part of the implementation and intensive personalization. Application parameterization was prepared in a very short time.

Go-live of the production system

Based on the materials provided by Microsoft as part of the project, a production environment was prepared within a few days. Users were able to enter master data and start their work without unnecessary downtime.

Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, Enterprise Edition allowed the company to start working in the ERP system very quickly and efficiently, unify data on one platform, set up administrative processes and ensure the collection of required data and information. Barcode-supported operations significantly accelerated data capture, allowing the company to fully focus on the production of height-adjustable office desks. The solution also increased work comfort — thanks to the cloud-based delivery, data and information are easily accessible to all users from outside the company on any internet-connected device.
